Climbing Fees

The Center of Clayton offers climbing on our 31' high wall covering approximately 500 square feet. Climbing classes, open climbing and wall rental are available. For more information see below.

Open Climb Times
These are hours set aside for patrons to come and climb on the rock wall. The Center staff provides supervision only. No belay is provided by staff members. Equipment can be rented at the welcome desk.

	Top Rope Climbing Top rope climbing is when you are attached to one end of the rope and your belayer is attached to the other with the anchor being set at the top of the wall or rock. This is what you will see most people doing at the Center’s rock wall.
	Requirements for Belaying If you are 18+ yrs. old and can show the Wall Staff proper technique in tying into a figure 8 knot, proper belaying technique, and the 4 common commands you will be issued a safety card. The safety card allows you to belay during open climb times. If you are between the ages of 13 & 17 you must take the youth certification course in order to be able to belay during open climb times. *If you are under the age of 13 you can not belay.*
	Bouldering Bouldering (climbing without ropes) is allowed for all guests during open climbing. When bouldering a climbers head may not exceed 12’ above the floor. Staff has the right to modify this height to under 12 feet due to a climber’s age or ability.

Wall Rental Information
The wall is available for private parties. Each group will be supervised by staff. Fee includes equipment and The Center of Clayton’s Certified Belayers. For wall rentals please call 314-290-8504.
